About the role
We are looking for a Senior Production Engineer to lead smooth new product introduction (NPI) into our operations environment, ensuring products move from design to manufacture efficiently and reliably. You will provide hands-on technical support to Engineering and Operations, improving existing processes and resolving technical issues to enhance quality, cost and delivery performance.
Key responsibilities
* Produce CAD drawings, SOPs and written build/test specifications to guide the Operations team in effective and efficient product assembly and test.
* Support Operations to resolve technical issues, fully documenting investigations, and develop robust production processes and product improvements that reduce cost and improve reliability while maintaining quality standards.
* Design, develop, document and improve tooling and test jigs, liaising closely with design and manufacturing teams to ensure product quality and operational productivity.
* Review and update product and process documentation and ERP data, including bills of materials, routings and design change requests.
* Use statistical methods and data analysis to identify process weaknesses, generate and track KPIs, and propose and implement corrective actions.
What we’re looking for
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Strong engineering background with significant experience in a design and manufacturing environment, ideally within an SME electronics manufacturing setting.
* Proven experience of 3D CAD at component level.
* Security Clearable - UK Citizens can only be considered for this position
Skills and knowledge
* Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma qualifications (preferred).!
* Knowledge of IFS ERP and Microsoft SharePoint (advantageous).!
* Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Understanding of AS9100 and ISO9001 quality standards.
* Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional problem-solving teams.

Work environment
You will be based in the Production Engineering department, working closely with Operations on the shop floor. The environment includes low-voltage equipment, high-temperature test equipment, and chemicals/solvents used in the manufacturing process, so a strong safety mindset is essential.
