We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and child‑centred Part‑Time SENCO to join our supportive and forward‑thinking school team and work alongside another SENCO. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and coordinating provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive.
Position: SENCO - part time (3 days)
Location: Southend-on-Sea
Salary: £160-£300+ per day
Contract Type: Part time (3 days)
Key Responsibilities
* Leading the strategic development of SEND provision across the school
* Coordinating and overseeing support for pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties, SEMH, and physical needs
* Working closely with teachers to ensure high‑quality, inclusive classroom practice
* Managing and updating SEND records, provision maps, and EHCP documentation
* Carrying out assessments, observations, and monitoring of pupil progress
* Liaising with external agencies, including Educational Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, and specialist services
* Supporting staff through training, guidance, and modelling effective strategies
* Meeting with parents and carers to discuss progress, concerns, and next steps
* Ensuring statutory responsibilities are met in line with the SEND Code of Practice
* Contributing to whole‑school safeguarding and inclusion practices
About You
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to work towards it
* Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
* Experience supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs
* Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills
* A compassionate, solution‑focused approach to supporting children and families
