About the role
This role is within the Access & Sufficiency Department. The EHCP Team is structured within the Children’s Services Directorate and is managed by the Head of Access & Sufficiency. The Council has a statutory duty to provide the functions of assessment of special educational needs, production of EHCPs and ensuring appropriate provision. This requires that requests for assessment are administered, EHCPs produced and places allocated by the Council. The role is responsible for supporting the team to ensure that children and young people have access to appropriate education, assessments of need are completed and awarding an EHCP within statutory timeframes. The team supports collaboration between the Local Authority and schools and academies to provide an integrated and accessible education offer. The EHCP Assistant is responsible for contributing to statutory and Council policy requirements relating to the assessment of special educational needs and providing high quality business support, delivering high quality customer service, and supporting production of EHCPs and related processes.
Responsibilities

* The role holder will provide high quality customer service, which is flexible and focused on facilitating assessment, communicating decisions and supporting the production of high quality EHCPs.
* The role holder will contribute to all statutory processes and Council approved policies relating to assessment of need, production EHCPs, admissions, mediation, and tribunal appeals.
