Continuous Improvement Engineer Howdens Joinery is looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our Manufacturing Improvement Team. The purpose of this role is to drive process reliability and efficiency improvements across our operations at our Howden site. As a key member of the team, you’ll work closely with both manufacturing and maintenance teams to identify, implement, and sustain process improvements. Using root cause analysis and lean tools, you’ll deliver solutions that generate long-term efficiency gains—while keeping a strong focus on operator engagement, product quality, and safe working practices. To succeed in this role, you’ll bring the confidence and expertise to engage with stakeholders at all levels. You’ll use your knowledge and experience to influence, challenge, and inspire others, ensuring improvements are both effective and sustainable. Building strong relationships, from shop floor teams to senior management, will be central to your success. Location: Howden, East Yorkshire Contract: Full Time/ Permanent Reporting to: Manufacturing Improvement Manager What will you be doing as CI Engineer: Ability to deliver improvement projects within a high-volume manufacturing environment. Have proven experience in lean process improvements, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment. Identification of process and machinery improvements through lean methodology, route cause analysis & PDCA to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. Lead and facilitate continuous improvement workshops and training sessions. Demonstrated success in multi-function team engagement, including mentoring and empowering others to lead and deliver improvements. Demonstrated positive personality with focus on what can be achieved. Have great communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Conduct, support, and govern 5S Foundation audits, ensuring they are robust and sustainable. What do you need to qualify for the CI Engineer: Ability to utilise and champion LEAN / Six Sigma /KAIZEN / Centre Lining Techniques / Leader Standard Work / Short Interval Control Understanding of HSE requirements within a manufacturing environment Track and communicate results at all levels within the business. Lean six sigma black/green belt. Have proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools, such as Excel & Minitab.
