This role is part of the Public Health Team’s Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service, supporting patients in the Emergency Department and inpatient wards at NSECH and other hospital sites.
Responsibilities
* Work directly with patients to assess their tobacco dependency needs and support them in quitting (face‑to‑face, remote consultation, or telephone).
* Take referrals, including self‑referrals, and identify the most appropriate treatment pathway.
* Support the Public Health team in developing and delivering training packages on tobacco dependency and other public health issues.
* Organise own workload and work unsupervised in a busy team, prioritising tasks to meet service demands and promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
* Support day‑to‑day running of the Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service, ensuring safe, well‑organised, evidence‑based care across multiple settings.
* Contribute to the delivery of key performance and reporting indicators for tobacco dependency.
* Engage with individuals and groups in target areas, helping them to make informed health choices and sustaining behavioural changes.
Qualifications
Practical experience in a health and care setting and experience of treating tobacco dependency.
