This project plays a vital role in supporting large-scale housing growth and improving regional connectivity across the West Midlands. An exciting opportunity now exists for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Birmingham or Stoke. This role is perfect for an experienced commercial professional looking to take the lead on nationally significant highways infrastructure where major transport meets residential development. The Role As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial and contractual management of highways schemes connected to a large-scale residential development. You’ll work closely with National Highways, local authorities, developers, and contractors to ensure delivery is efficient, commercially sound, and of the highest standard. Key Responsibilities Lead commercial management across highways infrastructure schemes Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, valuations, and final accounts Oversee NEC3/4 contract administration, change control, and compensation events Support procurement, including tender preparation, evaluation, and negotiation Deliver detailed cost reporting, forecasting, and financial control Identify and manage commercial risks, claims, and opportunities Build strong working relationships with developers, contractors, and public sector clients Ensure compliance with Section 278/38 agreements, planning conditions, and funding requirements What We’re Looking For Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline Significant post-degree experience in highways or major infrastructure projects Strong commercial and contractual management expertise, including NEC3/4 Proven track record in cost management, procurement, and project controls Excellent communication and negotiation skills with multiple stakeholders Experience with National Highways, developers, or public sector clients is highly desirable What’s on Offer Competitive salary, dependent on experience Hybrid working with flexible office/site/home balance Opportunity to work on a nationally significant highways programme Long-term career development in a respected, growing consultancy Full exposure to the project lifecycle from pre-contract to final account If you’re ready to take the next step in your career - or know someone in your network who might be - we’d love to hear from you.
