At Horizon Adventure Breaks, we provide safe, structured, short-term placements for young people in times of crisis. Our unique model combines professional support with outdoor adventure. Giving young people the stability, safety and encouragement they need to reset, build confidence and engage in positive experiences.
We believe every young person deserves the chance to feel safe, valued and inspired. Our dedicated team makes that possible.
We are a young and growing company, founded on a clear vision: to provide safe, structured placements that combine support with adventure. Being at the start of our journey means every team member has the chance to shape our culture, bring fresh ideas and grow with us as we expand.
The Role
As a Adventure Child Support Worker, you will:
* Provide 2:1 support to young people, alongside an experienced Horizon team member.
* Take part in a wide range of outdoor and creative activities such as climbing, biking, canoeing and bushcraft. The opportunities are almost endless when it comes to introducing new skills, hobbies and experiences to the young people. If you have a passion for a particular activity, whether it's arts and crafts, music, sports or something more adventurous, you'll have the chance to share it and inspire others.
* Be a positive role model, helping young people develop resilience, confidence and trust.
* Support daily routines, from meals to planning activities, while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the young person.
* Respond calmly and professionally to challenging behaviour, always guided by Horizon's values and safeguarding principles.
What We're Looking For
* Caring, resilient and energetic individuals who want to make a real difference to the lives of our Young People.
* Willingness to get involved in outdoor adventure activities (full training provided).
* Experience in care, youth work or adventure settings is desirable but not essential.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Commitment to safeguarding - safer recruitment checks (including enhanced DBS - paid by us if not already obtained) are required.
What We Offer
* Full training, including safeguarding, behaviour management and activity skills.
* Ongoing professional development and opportunities for progression as Horizon grows.
* A supportive, values-driven team culture - we look after each other as much as we look after the young people.
* The chance to genuinely change young lives while enjoying meaningful, adventurous work.
* As a young and ambitious company, we offer the chance to get involved early, develop your skills and progress as Horizon grows. Your voice and ideas will help shape the future of our service. We truly are a listening company.
We work around your availability, and shifts are agreed with your line manager to make sure they fit both your schedule and the needs of the service.
