Hays Education is currently recruiting for a temporary Design Technology Technician to join a dynamic and creative team at a school based in the Wigan area. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the delivery of engaging lessons – particularly in resistant materials and product design – by providing timely and effective technical assistance to teaching staff. Your work will help the department and the school achieve their educational goals.
This is a temporary, term-time-only role, working Monday to Friday for a period of approximately 3 months in the first instance. A DBS on the update service would be an advantage.
Your new role
1. Preparing, setting up, and checking equipment for art and design lessons including resistant materials and product design
2. Supporting teaching staff and students during practical sessions
3. Clearing away equipment and maintaining a safe, organised environment
4. Organising, storing, and managing stock and materials
5. Maintaining and carrying out minor repairs on equipment
6. Handling administrative tasks such as ordering supplies and updating records
7. Organising and storing students’ work
What you'll need to succeed
8. Relevant qualifications or experience in art, design, or technology-related activities
9. Good working knowledge of design technology techniques, kitchen and workshop tools, and materials
10. A strongmitment to health and safety in a school setting
11. A genuine passion for supporting students’ learning and development
