Job Summary
An exciting opportunity to join CIU with a 2-year training programme with CSR group to undertake a level 2 training course, while working in CIU. 20% of the role will be for study and off the job learning. The course is designed for Healthcare Science Assistants as an induction to the role, with potential progression to level 4 in cardio/respiratory or separate and degrees up to level 6 and Masters in Cardio or Resp Physiology. The qualification combines competence and knowledge, providing practical competencies and sector knowledge to carry out the role effectively, based on National Occupational Standards. The Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Introduction to Healthcare Science is for Healthcare Science Assistants seeking formal recognition of their knowledge and skills.

Main duties of the job
To work effectively and efficiently as part of a team within the Clinical Investigations Unit (CIU), ensuring a high-quality service is provided to patients attending the department.
Perform 12-lead ECG in a variety of clinical settings. Work alongside other colleagues, clinicians, the patient and their relatives.
To undertake study and off the job learning as part of the BTEC Level 2 qualification in Healthcare Science and obtain and maintain professional certification in ECG (SCST Certificate in Electrocardiography).
To assist in the professional and operational delivery of the CIU service, including shared allocation of work and training of other staff.
About Us
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, plus community premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and RLI offer General Hospital services with Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and Consultant-led services. WGH provides General Hospital services with an Urgent Treatment Centre to help non-life-threatening conditions. All three hospitals provide a range of planned care, diagnostics, therapies, day-case and inpatient surgery, and local outreach services and diagnostics across Morecambe Bay.
