The Engineering Technician will work as part of a team to support the department in meeting the College’s objectives. They support teaching staff in the preparation and execution of appropriate practical teaching sessions, ensuring the reliable and timely availability of materials and equipment.

Main Responsibilities and Duties
* Take responsibility for the Engineering workshop and storerooms, ensuring they are safe, tidy and appropriately resourced.
* Work with the Engineering Team to review and develop the resources required to deliver the relevant levels of qualification, including supporting teaching staff in the delivery of practical teaching sessions.
* Prepare and maintain practical facilities and associated equipment, planning routine servicing and maintenance to ensure they are in first class order and readily available for teaching staff.
* Deal with materials, tools and equipment for workshop sessions, maintaining stock levels, ordering, unloading delivered materials, preparation for sessions, issuing to students and monitoring use, in compliance with H&S and COSHH regulations.
* Take responsibility for the safe management of materials, chemicals, tools, equipment and instrumentation according to the levels of risk during ordering, storage, use and disposal, referencing COSHH Regulations and other H&S legislation.
* Exercise good and safe workshop practice in compliance with Health and Safety regulations and legislation to maintain a safe, clean and tidy learning environment.
* Demonstrate and give practical instruction to students as appropriate and assist in creating an environment conducive for student achievement. Provide technical assistance to teaching staff.
* Assist students in compiling portfolios in accordance with the requirements of the awarding organisation.
