Your role at Digital Catapult will be to direct the delivery of one or more major (£10m+) projects and programmes to drive exceptional impact for the UK through the purposeful adoption of deep tech. Your initial assignment will be to direct the successful delivery of the UK Digital Twin Centre, accelerating the adoption of digital twins to enhance global competitive advantage for UK businesses.
Reporting to the COO, the Project Director will provide extensive delivery expertise, industry delivery experience, a calm, collaborative, and confident approach, and strong leadership skills. You will direct the delivery team from our Centres of Excellence, build productive relationships with the Programme Manager, manage customer and stakeholder relationships, translate impact objectives into actionable plans, and seek pathways to sustainability and project growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Define and document success measures for the project.
2. Develop, implement, and execute the overall project delivery strategy to meet business goals.
3. Set milestones, financial plans, and impact tracking, ensuring successful delivery.
4. Lead, direct, and mentor the project team.
5. Identify and secure opportunities to expand the scope and duration of the project for additional impact, revenue, and sustainability, and support risk management.
6. Act as the primary point of contact, representing the project internally and externally; build strong relationships with stakeholders.
7. Experience in delivering large-scale technology projects in industrial settings; experience in marine, aerospace, defence sectors, and with digital twin technologies is advantageous.
8. Adept at managing customer and stakeholder relationships, influencing decisions for mutual benefit.
9. Demonstrate collaborative leadership to generate a high-performing team culture.
10. Strong financial acumen with experience managing large budgets, both grant and commercial.
11. Experience with project governance and risk management.
12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
13. Inspiration from applying deep tech and a commitment to UK impact.
14. A recognised project and programme management qualification is desirable.
