Main duties of the job
Applicants will need to be educated to Masters level or possess a higher specialist diploma. Candidates must demonstrate well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to lead and support individual and team working. The successful candidate will supervise a defined section of the laboratory, undertake aspects of diagnostic laboratory work and support the Operational Manager to advance key service and workforce objectives.
The laboratory operates a 7 day, 24 hr service and working patterns will include shifts covering core days, evenings and weekends on a rotational basis.
Qualifications
* Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent acceptable to HCPC for registration
* Fellow of the IBMS, Master of Science or equivalent post‑degree qualifications or equivalent relevant experience
* Evidence of registration with the Health Care Professions Council
* The ability to speak Welsh is desirable, but is not essential; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Experience
* History of working in Diagnostic Microbiology
* Evidence of supervisory management experience with work and people
* Evidence of staff rostering, appraisal and performance management
Personal Skills / Capability
* Evidence of technical capabilities (personal portfolio, continual professional development, competence record)
