Hours: 18.75 hours per week (Full time post but part time would be considered for the right candidate. Required to do weekend and overnight on-call work.)

Job overview

Following some recent successful recruitment into the QEQM Therapy team, we have a rare opportunity to further develop the senior leadership within the critical care and surgical team.

This clinical specialist position offers the exciting prospect of leading the development of this service collaboratively with a well-established multidisciplinary team. This will include inpatient work in critical care, general and gynae-oncology surgery, with opportunities to contribute to EKHUFT’s award-winning critical care follow-up and rehabilitation service.


Main duties of the job

This post holder will lead, develop and evaluate critical care and surgical Physiotherapy services at QEQM hospital.

They will provide therapeutic clinical expertise, high-quality advice and support to the multi-disciplinary team. Clinical supervision, appraisal and teaching will be key components of this role.

They will demonstrate excellent communication and collaborative working, along with other clinical specialists across the Health Economy, in order to provide a high-quality, efficient service.

In conjunction with the Clinical and Site Lead they will ensure clinical governance targets are met, including the development of clinical standards and protocols, specialist evidence-based practice, audit, research, clinical and non-clinical risk management.

Person specification


Experience

* 5 years post-graduate experience in relevant clinical area
* Proven record of providing high-quality intervention
* Clinical educator experience
* Participation in clinical audit
* Evidence of clinical supervision
* Participation in service development/quality improvement initiatives
* Lead a Clinical audit


Skills

* Highly developed clinical skills in relevant area
* Teaching / facilitating training
* Up to date therapeutic moving & handling skills
* Effective and strong team player
* Proven effective leadership and managerial skills


Knowledge

* Knowledge of up to date clinical / evidenced based practice
* Evidence of using clinical outcome measures
* Awareness of NHS initiatives and developments appropriate to this role


Qualifications

* BSc Physiotherapy
* HCPC registration
* Relevant post-grad training
* Member of CSP
* Member of SIG
* Leadership training


Personal attributes

* Ability to motivate and organise others to ensure best practice
* Ability to work under pressure
* Flexible and adaptable
* Own transport or ability to travel to patients' homes


Ability to manage

* Ability to prioritise care delivery in a professional manner, taking into account Trust policies and procedures
