Overview
You are an accomplished technology leader with experience of scaling and shaping high performing engineering organisations. You have led teams of circa 50-100 technologists in high growth environments, partnered with senior leadership to deliver business critical outcomes, and know how to balance strategic direction with operational excellence. You are passionate about nurturing a great engineering culture, developing future talent, and enabling teams to deliver secure, scalable products that generate real value for users.
Responsibilities
* Define and deliver Flagstone's engineering strategy, working closely with the CTO to shape our longer term technology vision.
* Lead and support the Engineering Management team, creating a culture of openness, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Partner with Product and Principal Engineers to deliver against the roadmap, ensuring teams are enabled and unblocked.
* Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the business to ensure alignment on engineering strategy, roadmap priorities, and resourcing.
* Oversee engineering organisational design, resourcing, and capability planning in line with growth and budget.
* Embed effective practices across delivery, QA, risk, and compliance, ensuring governance is integrated into how we work.
* Partner with our People Team on recruitment, succession planning, career development and mobility to build a sustainable pipeline of talent.
* Represent Flagstone within the wider technology community, supporting early careers initiatives and promoting an inclusive engineering culture.
* Have the opportunity to step into the Senior Leadership Team within your first year, contributing to the day-to-day running and strategic direction of the business.
Qualifications
* Experience in leading large engineering teams (50-100+) within high growth technology organisations.
* The ability to set and deliver engineering strategy at scale, while ensuring alignment with wider business objectives.
* Knowledge of distributed systems and cloud-native design (we use Microsoft Azure, but welcome all backgrounds).
* Expertise in organisational design, scaling teams, and embedding effective delivery practices.
* A track record of working with senior stakeholders to achieve alignment and deliver outcomes.
* Inclusive people leadership, with experience in coaching, mentoring, performance management, and succession planning.
* The ability to foster collaboration across engineering, product, and wider business functions.
* A commitment to building an inclusive, high-performance engineering culture.
