Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring that high standards of food quality and presentation are maintained. This position requires a strong background in food production, culinary arts, and team management, as well as a commitment to food safety and hospitality excellence.
Duties
* Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in overseeing kitchen operations and managing staff.
* Supervise and train kitchen personnel in food preparation and cooking techniques.
* Ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
* Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to food safety regulations.
* Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and improve existing recipes.
* Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
* Manage kitchen schedules and ensure efficient workflow during service periods.
Skills
* Proven supervising experience within a kitchen environment.
* Strong background in food production, preparation, and cooking techniques.
* Excellent team management skills with the ability to lead by example.
* Solid culinary experience with a passion for creating exceptional dishes.
* Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
* Previous restaurant experience
* Strong leadership qualities with effective communication skills.
* A commitment to providing outstanding hospitality to guests.
You'll ideally have:
* 1–2 years experience in a professional kitchen (Commis Chef or CDP level)
* A passion for fresh, seasonal cooking
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
* A positive, can-do attitude under pressure
* A relevant food safety or hygiene certificate (preferred, not essential)
