Electrical Wiring Operator Calibration & Maintenance
Location: Bolton | Defence Manufacturing | On-site
Our client, a long-standing partner to the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking an Electrical Wiring Operator to join the Calibration & Maintenance team on a 12-month contract at their Bolton site.
This role supports critical manufacturing and test activity, requiring strong fault-finding capability, precision workmanship, and the ability to work to exact technical drawings in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose faults and repair bespoke cable assemblies to drawing specifications
Carry out surface-mount repairs on Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs)
Maintain and repair test and measurement equipment to component level
Perform Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) across site equipment
Interpret technical drawings during fault-finding and repair activity
Conduct safety system testing in line with documented procedures
Support servicing of STTE during production test and repair phases
Maintain tool control, FOD standards, and a clean working environment
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must hold one of the following:
Advanced Level or Level 3 Electrical Engineering / Manufacturing Apprenticeship
OR
Level 3 academic qualification (ONC, Diploma or equivalent)
AND
Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ)
NVQ is not required if a Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard has been achieved.
Preferred Skills & Experience
IPC-620 certification and Dynamic Cabling training
Proven electrical wiring and assembly experience
Aerospace or defence manufacturing background
Security & Eligibility
British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship
BPSS clearance required prior to start
