At Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) we have an exciting opportunity for a healthcare professional to join our Pharmacy Team. This post is for the “Head of Pharmacy Manufacturing” and will be responsible for the production of aseptic medicines.
We are looking for a highly skilled, experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our Aseptic Team as we look forward to the future with the aim to develop our existing workforce, as well as welcoming new members to the team.
GOSH Pharmacy have been on a transformation journey to modernise pharmacy services and facilities to deliver expert care to our paediatric population.
Main duties of the job
GOSH Pharmacy Manufacturing operate under a Manufactured Specials (MS) licence to provide over 10,000 doses per annum from our on-site Cytotoxic and CIVAS unit providing patient specific doses and batches for patients supporting NHS, International & Private Care and Clinical Trials for our children.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in the New GOSH Children’s Cancer Centre development, which will house the new Cytotoxic facility and help continue to drive improvement forward. Leadership of our team of pharmacist technicians and operators on the digital pathway for Aseptic Manufacturing is key at future proofing our service in preparation for the coming new Children’s Cancer Centre.
You will be responsible for ensuring that aseptic dispensing and manufacturing activities comply with all current statutory obligations, including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
You will also lead the service supporting:
- Regulatory Compliance (MHRA/NHSE QA)
- Technical Pharmaceutical expertise
- Operational Leadership
- Innovative practice
- Quality Improvement ( EPIC Digital Closed loop systems)
- Senior Leadership and Management at an organisational level in respect to Pharmaceutical Manufacture
- Quality Management System Improvement
- Research and Development (Drug dose design)

* Registered with the GPhC
* Diploma / MSc in Pharmacy Practice or PTQA, or equivalent experience and expertise
Desirable criteria
* Certificate in Clinical / Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
Experience/Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Principles and practice of GMP and GCP
* Principles and practice of quality management systems
* Demonstrable significant experience of aseptic manufacture (Chemotherapy, CIVAS and PN)
* Experience of dealing with MHRA and / or other external auditing agencies
Desirable criteria
* Previous assessable experience in the design, building and commissioning of new production facilities
