Continental School of Beauty is seeking passionate individuals who want to make a difference in the beauty industry. Our Rochester school is always accepting applications from licensed, experienced barbers who are interested in teaching and dedicated to shaping the next generation of beauty professionals. In this role, you will play a key part in providing students with a high-quality education and fostering an environment that encourages them to reach their full potential.
The hours for the part-time position are Monday through Thursday from 5:00 pm – 9:30 pm with the potential for 2-3 full time days per month.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
* Starting Pay = $21.00 – $22.00 per hour
* 401(k)
* Paid Vacation Time – 2 weeks after 90 days and 3 weeks after 1 year
* Paid Sick Leave Time – accrue up to 40 hours per anniversary year
* Paid Holidays – 9 per year
JOB DESCRIPTION
* Position Title – Instructor
* Reports To – Director
POSITION SUMMARY
To instruct students effectively and prepare them for successful completion of the program, passing their New York State Board Exams and gainful employment in their chosen field.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
* Maintain a thorough knowledge of the school’s mission and educational objectives and strive to always attain them.
* Maintain a thorough, accurate and current knowledge of the subject matter taught.
* Teach and follow the school’s published curriculum.
* Provide students with fun, exciting demonstrations to teach practical skills.
* Maintain accurate student attendance records.
* Administer and grade written and practical tests.
* Complete all required paperwork.
* Attend and complete required New York State and accrediting body training development courses.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* New York State Instructor License Requirements – MUST HAVE:
o This instructor license requires a current, valid NYS Barber practical license.
o At least 2 years proven practical, licensed work experience in barbering.
o High school diploma or GED.
* Additional Requirements:
o Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
o Excellent interpersonal skills.
o Effective problem-solving skills.
o Basic computer skills to use email, spreadsheet, presentation and student e-book software.
