We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Communication Support Worker (CSW) with proven British Sign Language (BSL) experience to join our Additional Learning Support team. About the Role As a Communication Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring that Deaf and hard of hearing students are fully supported to access their courses and college life. You will work closely with teaching staff, support teams, and external agencies to promote inclusive learning and equal opportunities. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality communication support using BSL in classroom settings, tutorials, and other college activities. Facilitate effective communication between Deaf learners, staff, and peers. Adapt communication methods to suit individual learner needs. Support students' understanding of subject content and assignment tasks. Maintain accurate records of support and contribute to learner progress reviews. Essential Requirements Level 2 or above qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) Level 3 or higher is desirable. Experience working with Deaf or hard of hearing individuals in an educational setting. A clear understanding of the role of a CSW within further education. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work flexibly, independently, and as part of a team. Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusive learning. Desirable Experience working in a college or post-16 educational environment. Knowledge of a range of communication support strategies and assistive technologies.
