About the Role: The project will study the potential use of repurposed drugs for myeloma with the goal of improving treatment and patient outcomes. The fixed‑term position is funded until 31 March 2028 by the Stanley and Marion Irish‑Nee‑Bethell Fund, Nottingham Hospital Charity. The research is largely laboratory‑based using cell lines and primary myeloma samples, with some bioinformatics analysis. The role holder will plan, conduct, and analyze research with appropriate techniques, and will be responsible for writing up results for publication.
About the Team: You will join the lab of Dr Claire Seedhouse and Dr Dean Smith and work closely with members of the Blood Cancer and Stem Cell research group. The project is based in the Biodiscovery Institute, which provides state‑of‑the‑art facilities (link).
About You: A PhD (or equivalent professional qualification) and experience in blood‑cancer cell culture and drug‑response assays are essential. Experience with primary samples is desirable. Candidates who are PhD students nearing thesis submission will be given consideration. Excellent communication skills are key, as the role holder will collaborate with NHS and academic staff.
