We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Lecturer in AS and A Level Sociology to join our thriving department at Central Saint Michael’s Sixth Form on a full-time, permanent basis.
Sociology is a well-established subject within the college, providing students with valuable insights into society, culture, and the factors that influence human behaviour. We are looking for a dynamic individual who shares our passion for Sociology and is committed to delivering an outstanding educational experience. This role reports directly to the Head of Section.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Lecturer in Sociology, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, inclusive, and high-quality lessons that inspire and challenge learners. You will contribute to the development and continual improvement of the Sociology curriculum, support students through course leadership and personal tutoring, and maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and assessments. In addition, you will take an active role in enrichment and recruitment activities, including open events, parents’ evenings, and student interviews, while working collaboratively with colleagues to foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
To be successful in this role, you will have:
•A relevant degree and/or professional qualification
•A recognised teaching qualification at Level 5 or above
•Experience delivering high-quality teaching and learning in AS and A Level Sociology
•Knowledge of preparing, delivering and evaluating appropriate learning materials
•Familiarity with key skills/functional skills frameworks
•Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills
•The ability to inspire and motivate learners of varying abilities
•Experience using ILT and multimedia learning tools in the classroom
•A collaborative approach and willingness to support new developments
•A strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in practice
