A HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist providing a specialised, diagnostic, clinical microbiology service contributing to clinical care of patients and control of infectious diseases within the hospital and community. The post holder will be competent to work independently in all areas of the laboratory. The post holder will supervise, train and mentor Biomedical Support Workers and trainee Biomedical Scientists.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent
2. Registration with HCPC
Desirable criteria
3. IBMS specialist portfolio in Microbiology or equivalent post registration experience
Experience
Essential criteria
4. IBMS registration portfolio
5. Experience of working in a clinical UKAS accredited Microbiology laboratory
6. Working knowledge of routine microbiology procedures
Technical skills
Essential criteria
7. A good understanding of practical and theoretical medical microbiology
