An exciting opportunity has arisen for a leading independent engineering and services business in the UK. They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a solid mechanical background, ideally in a Tier 1 environment. The role is based in Plymouth with options for hybrid/remote working. You will work across various sectors within the building and infrastructure industry, contributing to innovative, responsible, and forward-thinking projects using the latest tools and technologies.
In this role, you will oversee the operational delivery of projects, managing safety, technical, commercial, and managerial requirements throughout the project lifecycle—from bid and pre-commencement to completion. You will ensure profitability through effective leadership and management of support functions, fostering high-quality customer relationships.
Expectations:
* Manage pre-commencement activities with the Pre-construction Manager
* Participate in bid activities to ensure professional, profitable, and successful bids that meet customer expectations
* Maximize opportunities, efficiency, and profitability during project delivery
* Ensure accurate understanding of customer requirements by reviewing scope of works and installation methods
* Identify and manage risks
* Lead the team and specialist subcontractors through all project stages to successful completion
* Conduct contract reviews and prepare related reports and data
* Develop and update business plans with the Commercial Director
* Build and maintain positive long-term customer relationships
Requirements:
* Proven mechanical building services experience in a construction environment, with prior experience in a similar role
* Industry-recognized trade or professional qualification
* Apprenticeship in mechanical discipline
* Experience working on high-value projects
