The Role
We are looking for a dedicated and quality-driven Mechanical Fitter to join our Chassis Department. This role is crucial to the assembly of our handcrafted vehicles, involving the precise installation of key mechanical components to produce complete rolling chassis.
Working primarily independently within a structured team environment, you'll be responsible for assembling core mechanical systems and ensuring vehicles are built to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble motor vehicles to the rolling or driving chassis stage within assigned bays
* Fit and install mechanical components including powertrain assemblies, steering racks, and braking systems
* Complete system fluid fills (brake fluid, lubricants) and perform related tests and quality checks
* Use a variety of hand, power, and air tools to carry out repetitive build tasks according to specification
* Operate computer terminals to input or retrieve vehicle build information as required
* Contribute to team meetings and collaborate with colleagues throughout the build process
* Support the training of new team members as necessary
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
* Strong mechanical aptitude with proven experience in vehicle assembly or mechanical fitting
* Ability to perform complex, repetitive tasks quickly and with consistent accuracy
* Good understanding of engineering principles and mechanical systems
* Excellent attention to detail and quality awareness
Desirable:
* Prior experience in the automotive industry, particularly in low-volume or specialist manufacturing
* Full UK driving licence
