Job Purpose
The IT Senior Network Analyst for the College of Science and Engineering (CoSE) will be a key member of the infrastructure function within the Service Operations division. The post holder will be responsible for resolving network-related issues across the Schools, capturing the existing network topology, and planning the migration of the College network infrastructure onto a new network via the University of Glasgow’s Network Improvement Project. They will maintain day-to-day relationships with the Central IT Network team to ensure issues are addressed promptly. Reporting to the Infrastructure Lead, the Senior Network Analyst will work with limited supervision to deliver the following main activities and responsibilities:
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide technical expertise in the operational delivery of IT services, ensuring high-quality support while considering technological developments, school needs, and institutional policy.
2. Plan and support IT upgrades and new service implementations to keep services current and secure.
3. Ensure service provision meets the needs of academic staff, students, and professional services, with an emphasis on efficiency and resource utilization.
4. Develop service documentation for staff and end users, contributing to continuous improvement.
5. Support and maintain tools necessary for service support and operation.
6. Provide support and training related to network support for staff across schools.
7. Report issues to service managers, escalate major issues, and identify development needs.
8. Update incident and request processes for network issues.
9. Provide reports and recommendations to IT leadership, including security incidents and user feedback.
10. Ensure network accessibility in schools, complying with legislation and addressing audit recommendations.
11. Promote innovative practices and stay informed on industry trends.
12. Provide timely support and communication to network users across CoSE schools.
13. Attend and report at internal and external meetings, representing the IT department.
14. Perform other duties as directed by management.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
* Essential: Demonstrated competencies in a similar role or Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 9 or equivalent, including professional accreditation and experience.
* Understanding of current and emerging technologies and their application in digital business support.
* Industry-wide professional qualification in networking (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Associate, Cisco Certified Network Professional - CCNP).
Desirable
* Qualifications in computing or service support (e.g., ITIL accreditation).
* Experience influencing organizational change through process or methodology.
* Understanding of technology as an enabler of change.

* Desirable: Experience with Agile project delivery; working within complex structures in Higher Education; IT Service Management frameworks; collaboration with academic staff.
Terms and Conditions
Salary: Grade 7, £39,347 - £44,263 per annum. Full-time (35 hours/week), fixed-term for up to 2 years. The University of Glasgow values ambition, excellence, integrity, and curiosity. Eligibility to work in the UK is required; visa sponsorship considerations apply.
