Main duties of the job
Manage a specialist community caseload, demonstrating skills in current assessment techniques (inc use of neurothesiometers, monofilaments, Doppler etc) and evidence-based treatment of biomechanical pathologies, at risk patients (inc. wound care) and nailsurgery.
Work in partnership with patients and other service users and communicate effectively to meet the needs of the recipient in maximising their understanding of information about their (foot) health. To empathetically convey potentially distressing information.
Supervise work with and for Foot Care Assistants and assist with their training and development.
Identify the local need for podiatry services, evaluate priorities and deliver care accordingly, managing capacity and demand within contractual agreements.
Work closely and effectively with other health care professionals in securing high standards of care for all patients, including; Referral onward, Antibiotic cover, Specialist footwear prescriptions, Recommending further tests and investigations.

Person Specification
Experience
* Specialist wound care knowledge in treating and managing the high risk and ulcerated foot.
Qualifications
* BSc Podiatry (or equivalent e.g. Diploma in Podiatric Medicine or Overseas qualification with equivalent BSc experience).
* HPC registration, evidence of continuing professional development.
