Data Administrator - Stroke

The closing date is 15 April 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Stroke Data Administrator to join the Stroke Admin Team at Dorset County Hospital. This role is ideal for a self‑motivated, enthusiastic and organised individual with a good telephone manner, experience of audiotyping and a solid working knowledge of IT systems.


Main duties of the job

* Manage day‑to‑day workload to achieve all data input and reporting requirements within stated time‑frames, including prompting team members to complete outstanding data items.
* Input data independently or collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members.
* Prepare data reports (SSNAP, & TIA) for data quality and team meetings and audit submissions (Information Team, SSNAP) as required.
* Support the completion of relevant action plans and complete any actions allocated to the post, related to stroke/TIA data.
* Take minutes at relevant team meetings as required.
* Maintain and develop patient information, clerical, secretarial and record keeping systems, both paper‑based and electronic, in line with established Trust systems, liaising with other departments, including Medical Records and Trust Headquarters, where necessary.

Person Specification


Education, Qualifications & Training

* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English at Grade C or above.
* Ability to use computer systems for data recording.
* Proficient use of Microsoft Excel.


Knowledge & Experience

* Experience of working within the NHS, community or voluntary services.
* Experience of working with computer systems, including Microsoft Office and PAS (data collection, collation, inputting and extraction from electronic databases).
* Experience of working with staff at all levels.


Skills & Abilities

* Evidence of the ability to communicate confidently, effectively, professionally and sensitively both orally and in writing.
* Evidence of the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities in a rapidly changing environment and organise your own workload to meet deadlines.
* Evidence of the ability to work independently within a team under direct supervision and broad procedural guidelines.
* Evidence of the ability to exercise judgement when dealing with queries and to analyse and resolve problems.
* Evidence of the ability to build and maintain good working relationships within a team.
* Evidence of the ability to input data accurately and timely and to produce reports when required.
* An understanding of the meaning of confidentiality and the requirement to maintain it while remaining diplomatic.
