Job Overview
This part‑time Childcare Support Worker role is a Grade 5 position, providing flexible, confidential support to children and young people up to 18 years old who have learning or physical disabilities, or who are experiencing dysfunction within the family. The role aims to facilitate meaningful family contact and strengthen community ties for the young people involved.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide flexible, confidential support to children and young people aged up to 18 years with learning or physical disabilities or dysfunction within family situations to facilitate meaningful family contact.
* Work in partnership and provide direct support to families and foster placements.
* Support young people in promoting choice, community presence, social network building, reputation and image, and skill development while enhancing their experiences using available community resources.
* Safeguard and protect children and adults at risk, ensuring compliance with the Council’s Corporate Safeguarding Policy and attending to all safeguarding responsibilities.
Qualifications and Experience
* Positive, proactive approach with excellent people skills.
* Experience in childcare and family work with an appropriate qualification is favorable.
* Preferred qualification: NNEB/NVQ 3 Children & Young People.
* Driving licence and full access to a car—essential.
* Right to work in the UK.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Grade 5 – £26,824 to £27,694 pro rata for 25.25 hours per week (term time only, 52.14 weeks per annum). After 5 years’ service, the pro rata salary rises to £18,899.28 per annum.
