Job overview
Emerge School is seeking an exceptional and motivated Deputy Headteacher with SENCO responsibility to join our ambitious and supportive leadership team. This exciting opportunity has arisen following the promotion of our current Deputy Headteacher, and we are looking for an inspirational leader who shares our commitment to high standards, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing.
About Us
Emerge School is an independent school for pupils aged 5–13 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. All our pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and we work closely with families and local authorities to provide an individualised, therapeutic education. Using our 'roots to wings' model, we focus on supporting the whole child, helping them build confidence, relationships, and a love for learning.
The Role
As Deputy Headteacher, you will play a key role in leading teaching, learning, and pupil outcomes across the school. You will deputise for the Headteacher when required and provide strong operational leadership. You will also hold the statutory role of SENCO, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and embedding inclusive practice throughout the school.
This is an opportunity to make a real difference in a specialist setting, working with a dedicated team of staff to ensure every pupil thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
* Deputise for the Headteacher and provide whole-school leadership.
* Lead SEND provision, ensuring statutory requirements are met and reviewed.
* Oversee and coordinate EHCP processes, including annual reviews.
* Support staff with high-quality teaching, learning, and inclusive practice.
* Lead on admissions and transitions, working with families and local authorities.
* Ensure robust quality assurance systems are in place to raise standards.
* Embed the school's therapeutic model across teaching and learning.
What We're Looking For
We are seeking an experienced school leader and qualified SENCo with:
* Proven leadership and management experience in a specialist or inclusive setting.
* A clear understanding of SEND statutory requirements and best practice.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills with staff, pupils, families, and external partners.
* A passion for improving outcomes for pupils with SEMH and SEND.
* The ability to inspire, motivate, and develop others.
What We Offer
* The chance to join a highly supportive and forward-thinking leadership team.
* Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
* A welcoming, values-driven school community with a strong focus on wellbeing.
* The opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of children and families.
Immediate start available.
