Our client is seeking a Payroll Team Leader to oversee the daily administration of the payroll system, procedures, and service delivery. The role involves ensuring compliance with statutory, legal, and contractual requirements, and processing payments accurately and on time each month.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Supervising the Payroll Team to ensure accurate payments, timely production of payslips, statutory returns, and reports.
2. Serving as a point of escalation for internal queries from the Payroll Team and other departments.
3. Managing workload allocation across Payroll & Pensions Officers and providing cover during absences.
4. Administering multiple pension schemes, ensuring proper reporting and timely action on queries.
5. Ensuring compliance with statutory and pension scheme requirements, including monthly pension returns and auto-enrolment.
6. Processing monthly payroll, including post-payroll reporting and general ledger uploads.
7. Preparing and reconciling month-end payments and returns (HMRC, pension providers, etc.).
8. Coordinating with internal and external auditors and providing necessary information.
9. Staying updated on relevant regulations and sharing information with the team.
10. Collaborating with other Operations teams to improve processes and service delivery.
11. Working with the Payroll Manager to enhance payroll services and identify efficiency improvements.
12. Deputising for the Payroll Manager when needed.
13. Performing additional duties and projects as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
