We provide specialist execution services for a diverse range of clients including stockbrokers, private asset managers and institutional investment managers, covering UK equities from FTSE 100 through to AIM European and US listed equities Fixed Interest securities Thanks to a healthy and expanding internal and external order book Winterflood Securities Limited are looking to recruit a new member to our dynamic and well-established development team This challenging and rewarding role will require the successful candidate to engage in OpenEdge / PROGRESS Database Administration and scripting, as well as participating in systems administration and all aspects of the development lifecycle in a pro-active manner. Candidates must have a positive attitude, and the ability to work under pressure in a highly regulated environment The role requires some evening and weekend working Database Administration We are looking for candidates to engage in the following OpenEdge Database maintenance and schema changes in development, test and production environments Database configuration and upgrades, including database tuning and performance monitoring Scripting associated with database management tasks Administration of other data/messaging hubs (e.g AMQ, Mongo) Other applicable DBA and systems administrator related activities The successful candidate is expected to work on their own initiative within a team. The role reports to the Head of Software Architecture and works closely with project management and IT/Operations Skills & Experience Ideal candidates must have at least 5-10 years’ commercial technical experience including most/all of the following: OpenEdge Database Administration Relational database design Linux / UNIX scripting: BASH / KSH / Powershell / Python OpenEdge Database / system performance monitoring and tuning Strong focus on governance and correct procedures Disaster recovery strategies The following skills are highly desirable: Experience of OpenEdge database replication OpenEdge administrationWindows clients App Servers IDE / Dev Studio ODBC SQL reporting: Crystal / Tableau MongoDB administration Administration of ActiveMQ / AMQ / Artemis or similar messaging brokers Opsview / nagios or other similar monitoring systems Understanding of principles of networking Linux system administration Metrics / telemetry and knowledge of e.g. Grafana The following knowledge / skills are advantageous: Cloud architectures and related databases e.g. Dynamo DB Large/fast data storage technologies, e.g. Mongo, Cassandra, REDIS Mongo DB clustering Knowledge and experience of financial systems SQL server DB admin Github and CI/CD Benefits Salary - competitive Discretionary annual bonus & annual pay review Work Abroad Policy for up to 15 days per year 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and additional well-being day Option to purchase an additional 5 days holiday per year Flexible working options available, including hybrid working Pension scheme up to 10% employer contribution Sharesave scheme Income Protection & Life insurance (4 x salary core level of cover) Private health care via BUPA Employee Assistance Programme Discounted Gym Membership Variety of travel to work schemes Company benefits are provided on completion of either six months service, or a successful probation period whichever is sooner.
