An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within a small team supporting a young lady with a learning disability & Autism.
A role within our team gives you the opportunity to support a fun young woman with a great sense of humour, who has a love for adventure. Some of her hobbies include music, arts and crafts and going to local attractions. She also enjoys attending local clubs and activities so she can socialise with her friends and the people she knows well in the local community.
The role of support worker includes supporting her develop and implement independent living skills to maintain her home and integrate into her local community.
She would want you to have great communication skills, be confident, flexible, show initiative, as well as working well within a team and to have a good sense of humour.
Requirements
To promote independence and develop skills for the person we support.
Support and aid where appropriate in all household tasks.
Assist to manage areas of weekly budgeting.
Support to develop social skills and integrate as fully as possible into their community.
To uphold social work values, to ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety.
To work positively with other agencies and services to ensure the highest level of care.
Contribute to the maintenance of individuals records.
General Duties.
Attend all relevant meetings and training.
Ensure accurate record keeping.
The Individual
Experience of working with adults with a learning disability.
Experience of handling cash.
Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory level of literacy and numeracy.
Budgeting skills.
Ability to undertake household skills to a required standard.
Ability to plan and implement a healthy diet plan, prep and prepare meals.
Ability to record information accurately.
Self-confident and self-motivated.
Active listening and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with service user and staff at all levels.
Ability to resolve problems and cope with day to day pressures.

This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
