Overview
The SET CAMHS crisis and therapeutic home treatment team offer assessment and interventions to young people presenting with mental deterioration or crisis presentations. The service works within the Thrive model and collaborates with community services and the community SET CAMHS team to promote positive outcomes for vulnerable young people and their families. There are opportunities for joint working and coordinating with community-based teams. The approach focuses on meeting the needs of the young person to ensure effective clinical practice and brief therapeutic interventions, and to reduce risk within a containing approach. Regular clinical supervision and reflective space are offered, and the team operates on a shared risk model to ensure decisions are made collectively with effective formulations of need. There are opportunities for development and training in various therapeutic approaches; new starters will receive a full induction and opportunities to shadow the team and learn about the departments/teams within the SET CAMHS model. Throughout the service there are development opportunities and opportunities to contribute to care of young people within the A&E pathway.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will benefit from being part of a friendly, supportive, dynamic and developing service based within Essex. The successful candidate will work alongside highly motivated colleagues and have access to supervision (individual and group formats) and CPD training. There will be additional training and development opportunities as the service grows, including the opportunity to contribute to care of young people within the A&E pathway.
We are looking for candidates who have enthusiasm and passion for meeting the needs of young people in crisis and supporting their families, as well as being adaptable, enjoying variety, working independently, and understanding the importance of teamwork.
Responsibilities
* Skilled in assessment, formulation, management and delivery of therapy to people experiencing acute mental health crisis in community and hospital settings
* Experienced in assessing and managing clinical risk, using dynamic case formulation, and collaborating with service users to agree treatment and safety plans
* Possess a current Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapist, Counselling, Psychotherapy or equivalent professional qualification and be skilled in evidence-based therapies (including DBT/CBT/Systemic & Creative therapies)
* Knowledge and experience of legal frameworks relating to care and treatment of children and young people (Children Act 1989, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health Act 1983 as amended in 2007)
* Flexible to work 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including unsociable hours
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team; understands networks around young people and mental health
* Flexible practice with high-quality Mental Health and Risk Assessments; delivering talking therapies in various settings (homes, colleges, schools, community settings, A&Es)
* Formulate highly specialist care and treatment plans; provide skilled interventions and timely written assessments
* Passionate about delivering high-quality care to young people and their families
* Use and management of clients' electronic records
* Manage busy or complex workloads as part of a team

Starting with NELFT
NELFT places importance on induction for new starters. All new starters join on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training and equipment allocation. Induction includes meetings with the executive team and senior managers and attendance at drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. Induction is held at the Trust head office in Rainham, Essex.
