About the role Our award-winning Design department are seeking a Naval Architect to join their busy, experienced team at Sunseeker Technology Centre, Poole. As a Naval Architect, you will apply your experience and understanding to drive success within general Naval Architecture tasks, such as weight estimates, vessel stability, sea trials, performance predictions, composite structures, 3-D modelling and draughting. You will support weight estimation work and gain valuable data from boat production lines to accurately monitor boat weights throughout the manufacturing process. Your work will provide data to propeller suppliers to maintain performance optimization of propellers for yacht owners. Supporting first of type performance trials, conducting lightship checks and providing ballast data to the test teams, our Naval Architects ensure that our yachts are tested at the correct displacements before shipping to customers. The role will also support the need for additional draughting capability within the team to aid future project modelling and draughting within our company-record breaking NPD investment. A day in this role may include; Production of accurate weight estimates for any boat in the Sunseeker range, including regular yard visits and coordination with build crews to obtain weighed weights of mouldings/components to ensure the boat s weight is on target and highlight any potential performance impact; Support of the Naval Architecture and Test Teams with first of type boat trials, including lightship checks and providing ballast requirements for performance trials, assessing structures for deflections and helping complete the FOT document for new boats; Support the 3-D modelling of composite structure including hull, deck and superstructures as well as integral tanks and small mouldings; Delivery of production drawings for all composite parts and 1st Stage Fit-out details using either Siemens NX 3-D software or AutoCAD 2-D as required.
