This role will be working alongside an Advanced Mental Health Practitioner from Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust (NSFT). This is an exciting position, allowing patients to receive mental health care, in the right place, at the right time, by the right person. This MHJRC follows a very successful pilot period and is in line with the current NHS framework for ambulance mental health care.

The resource operates 7-days per week, 14:00-02:00hrs, currently from Colchester Ambulance Station.

You will remain on your current banding, and will be working in your current scope of practice (EMT, Paramedic).

Main duties of the job

To behave in accordance with the Trusts vision and values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Quality and Care.

The postholder is required to comply fully with Trust operational arrangements and clinical guidelines and procedures, to respond promptly to instructions from dispatch and senior staff.

The postholder is required to deal with any situation which confronts them where aid is required commensurate with their role.

Work autonomously as an independent health care practitioner, guided by precedent and clearly defined operating guidelines, procedures, protocols and code of conduct.

To provide an operational response to all emergency calls without delay, all urgent calls requested by doctors, all hospital patient transfer journeys and any other planned journey requests by dispatch.

On arrival at incident, make dynamic risk assessment of the environment and general situation, having due regard for the health and safety of self and others, and through dispatch request additional support appropriate to the circumstances.

To provide supervision of staff during their training period (including NQP’s) influencing their development and guiding them through clinical procedures.
