About the role The Digital Media Specialist will play a pivotal role in shaping high‑quality video and audio learning content across one of the world's leading STEM universities - with responsibility for creating visually engaging, innovative and functional learning media experiences to support on-campus higher education delivery. Based within the Ed Tech Learning Design and Innovation Team in the Faculty of Engineering, you will act as a lead producer for digital learning media - guiding projects from early scoping and storyboarding through to filming, post‑production and delivery. This is a hands‑on, creative role combining media production expertise, storytelling, project initiation and coordination, learning experience content design and educational impact. You will collaborate closely with academics, learning technologists, instructional designers, and technical teams to create engaging, pedagogically sound learning media that enhances the student and staff experience at scale. What you would be doing Lead the planning, production and delivery of video and audio learning media as main producer. Collaborate with academics, learning designers and technologists to develop compelling narratives and storyboards aligning media-led learning experience with sound instructional design. Undertake hands‑on filming and editing, overseeing shoots, spaces, equipment and workflows. Coordinate end‑to‑end production pipelines, including scheduling, post‑production, quality assurance and asset management. Edit and finalise media content in line with agreed technical and pedagogic standards. Maintain and curate a reusable media asset catalogue for long‑term sustainability. Evaluate and continuously improve media production approaches, contributing to reports and evidence‑based enhancement of learning design. Champion best practice in learning media across the faculty and wider University. Work flexibly across projects, teams and locations, including participation in cross‑institution initiatives. What we are looking for The essential requirements for this role are: Degree (or equivalent professional experience) in media, education, instructional design, computer science or a related field. Demonstrable enthusiasm for the use of digital media to enhance teaching and learning. Significant experience in media production, including pre‑production, filming and post‑ Proven ability to create educational video and audio content with strong storytelling and visual communication. Hands‑on experience with industry‑standard tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia or similar). Experience working collaboratively with subject matter experts to design and deliver digital learning resources. Excellent communication, organisational, stakeholder‑management and influencing skills. Strong understanding of project management, production workflows and quality assurance. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise effectively and deliver to deadlines.
