About Boldspace & BoldStream™
Boldspace is a 6-year-old full-service Brand & communications agency that has experienced year-over-year growth since its founding. Our seasoned agency-side co-founders felt there was a critical lack of industry transparency in data and measuring the performance of client work, so we launched BoldStream on day 1, our flagship data & analytics platform that helps brands measure and act on the impact of their communications in real time.
We will now continue to invest heavily in AI-native capabilities: agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented insights, and intelligent automation across our client reporting and analytics stack.
Boldspace is seeking a mid-weight Automation & Prompting Expert to continue the design, build and maintenance the workflows that connect our tools, data and AI systems across BoldStream™ and internal operations.
Position Overview
You will combine agentic workflows (OpenAI Agent Builder, LangGraph / LangChain) with no/low-code tools (n8n, Zapier, Make.com) and custom JavaScript to automate everything from data syncing and lead routing to AI-powered reporting and internal assistants.
You will be responsible for understanding complex business processes, structuring them into reliable automated workflows, and designing prompts and guardrails that ensure our agents behave consistently and safely.
Requirements
Workflow & Agent Design
* Work with stakeholders across Boldspace (Client Services, Strategy, Data, Operations) to identify high-value manual processes and design automation-first solutions.
* Design multi-step agentic workflows using OpenAI Agent Builder, LangGraph and similar tools, orchestrating LLMs, tools, APIs and business logic in a transparent, observable way.
* Define clear SLAs and success metrics for each workflow (latency, reliability, data quality, cost, etc.) and feed this back into design iterations.
Implementation – Automation Platforms & JavaScript
* Build and maintain workflows in tools like n8n, Zapier, Make.com and LangGraph-based services, including triggers, filters, branching, retries and error handling.
* Where off-the-shelf connectors don’t exist, implement custom integrations in JavaScript/TypeScript, working with REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks and authentication flows (OAuth, API keys, etc.).
* Use tools like Postman and Insomnia to design, test and document API interactions that will be automated.
* Integrate with CRMs, marketing platforms, analytics tools, data warehouses and BoldLoop itself to keep data flowing with minimal human intervention.
Prompting & Agent Reliability
* Design prompts, system messages, tool descriptions and guardrails that allow agents to perform complex tasks consistently across workflows.
* Implement evaluation and testing strategies for prompts and workflows, including golden test sets, regression checks and sandbox runs.
* Work with AI Engineers to share best practices on prompt patterns, fallbacks, memory/state handling and observability for agentic systems.
Monitoring, Support & Enablement
* Monitor workflows and agents in production, setting up alerts, dashboards and logs to catch failures or regressions early.
* Own incident response for automation issues, including triage, root cause analysis, fix and retrospective.
* Create how-to guides, Loom walkthroughs and internal documentation so non-technical teams can understand and safely use the automations you build.
* Act as an internal champion for automation and AI agents, helping teams think in terms of workflows and leverage existing capabilities before building new tools.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* 3–5 years’ experience in a technical role (automation engineer, operations engineer, RevOps, martech/AdOps, technical consultant or similar) with a strong track record of building automations and integrations.
* Hands-on experience with at least one of n8n, Zapier, Make.com or similar automation platforms, including building complex multi-step workflows in production.
* Solid JavaScript skills and comfort with reading/writing TypeScript where needed for custom steps, cloud functions or small services.
* Good understanding of REST APIs, webhooks and JSON, and experience using Postman or Insomnia for exploring, testing and documenting APIs.
* Demonstrated experience with prompt engineering and LLM-based automations, even if via no/low-code tools or agent builders.
Nice to Have
* Experience with OpenAI’s Agent Builder / AgentKit and other agent frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain agents, CrewAI, etc.).
* Knowledge of martech/CRM ecosystems (HubSpot, Salesforce, ad platforms), especially automating data flows and reporting.
* Familiarity with AI-enhanced development tools (Cursor, Lovable) and low-code environments.
* Comfort using GitHub and Linear for tracking work in a more engineering-like way, even if you’re sitting closer to operations.
What You’ll Bring
* Automation-first mindset – instinctively looks for ways to remove manual steps, reduce errors and improve speed.
* Structured problem solving – you can map messy business processes into clear workflows and decision trees.
* Attention to detail – strong sense of ownership over reliability; you care about edge cases, failure modes and good documentation.
* Communication – able to work with non-technical stakeholders, explain trade-offs simply and turn vague requirements into concrete workflows.
Benefits
* Pensions: a 5% employer contribution.
* Private Healthcare: Vitality
* Holiday: unlimited holiday (including all UK public holidays) – we trust our staff to take the time they need and still excel in their jobs – and days off for birthdays and moving house are guaranteed!
* Very Flexible working
* Socials: team socials regularly, chosen by the team.
* Team retreats: time to get to know each other away from the office.
* Bonus: transparent bonus structure where you can receive a % of base salary based on personal and company performance.
* Supporting good causes: we contribute some of our outperformance to charitable causes which the team help choose.
* Wellness: time within working hours every week for those that want or need it.
* Monthly benefits budget: £50 per month, every month, to spend on whatever you want – from a home delivered vegetable box and discounted gym memberships, to mental health support and professional coaching.
