Offer description

Please note that, following recent national updates, the minimum salary threshold for skilled workers with Certificates of Sponsorship issued after 9 April 2025 has increased to £25,000 per year. This increase also applies to the Health and Care Visa route for occupations paid by NHS bands. Consequently, entry-level Band 3 roles will no longer be eligible for sponsorship.

South Lakes Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) is looking to recruit a Support Worker.

The team serves the population of the South Lakes area. It is an established team with a friendly and supportive culture. There is visible and supportive leadership committed to clinical supervision and professional development.

Ideally, you will have current or previous experience in a community setting and be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary context. You should have a collaborative and enthusiastic approach, with an interest in working with adults with severe and enduring mental health needs.

The service is based at Kirkstone House in Kendal. It operates between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, with some out-of-hours work may be necessary to meet service demands.

The role requires good communication skills, the ability to follow instructions and advice from the Clinical Team, and supporting individuals referred to the service. As a support worker, you will manage a caseload of service users with complex needs, supporting them to achieve their care plans and managing risks in the community with clinical team support.

You will benefit from encouragement to develop your specialist knowledge and competence through clinical supervision, management supervision, team/peer support, training opportunities, and the Trust’s appraisal process.

Main responsibilities include establishing communication, contributing to personal development, maintaining health and safety, supporting service development, ensuring quality and equality, maintaining knowledge of third-sector providers, and delivering care programs to promote well-being.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services, including secondary mental health care, inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health, forensic services, and physical health services in the community, alongside partners in Lancashire, Cumbria, and Sefton.

The Trust encourages flexible working arrangements such as term-time, part-time, compressed hours, flexi-time, and career breaks. Applicants are encouraged to specify their preferences in their application and discuss these during interviews.

Please see the attached job description and person specification for more information about this role.

This advert closes on Wednesday, 23 July 2025.
