Risk and Assurance Advisor

We're excited to recruit for this role at Golding and appoint a Risk and Assurance Advisor to join our Governance, Risk and Compliance department.

About the role
Working within our Governance, Risk and Compliance team, you’ll play a key role in embedding effective risk management, assurance and internal controls across the organisation. You’ll support the delivery of our annual audit and assurance programme, carry out risk-based reviews and deep dives, and help provide clear, insightful reporting to senior leaders and governance forums.
You’ll also work closely with the Head of Risk and Assurance / Data Protection Officer, providing assurance in relation to GDPR and wider data protection compliance, and collaborating with colleagues across the business to support continuous improvement.
This is a varied, influential role where you’ll help ensure that Golding manages its risks well, meets regulatory expectations and continues to deliver high-quality services for our customers and communities.
What you’ll be doing
· Supporting the implementation and ongoing operation of Golding’s Risk Management Framework across strategic, operational and project risks
· Coordinating the annual audit and assurance programme, working with internal and external auditors and specialists
· Delivering risk-based deep dives and assessing the effectiveness of internal controls, identifying gaps and recommending practical improvements
· Supporting the DPO with assurance activity relating to GDPR and data protection compliance
· Using assurance, risk and performance information to identify trends, issues and opportunities for improvement
· Preparing and contributing to governance and compliance reports for senior leadership and governance groups
· Working collaboratively with colleagues across Golding, providing advice, guidance and support on assurance and controls matters
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is analytical, detail-focused and confident working in a regulated environment, with a collaborative and pragmatic approach.
You’ll ideally have:
· Experience in internal audit, risk management or compliance, ideally within housing, local government or another regulated sector
· A good understanding of assurance frameworks, internal controls and governance
· Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn data and findings into clear, meaningful insights
· Excellent communication skills, with confidence engaging with senior leaders, colleagues and external auditors
· A proactive mindset, with the ability to spot issues early and recommend practical, proportionate solutions
When and where you'll be doing it
You will enjoy a 37-hour working week and earn an annual salary of £42,700 per annum (Inclusive of cost of living increase) dependent upon your knowledge, skills and experience.
