An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist Associate Practitioner to work alongside Specialist Speech and Language Therapists and Youth Justice staff in the Dorset Combined Youth Offending Team. You will support children and young people accessing the Youth Justice Service, including those at risk of exclusion, their families, and schools.
You will join a multidisciplinary health team comprising SLTs, a Clinical Psychologist, and Mental Health nurses, working within the wider Youth Justice Service to support the physical, social, and emotional health of young people. Your role involves contributing to holistic assessments and support plans.
You will also be part of the wider Children and Young People's Speech and Language Therapy Service across Dorset, with opportunities to contribute to service development and audits.
This is a fixed-term role, and for NHS staff, it will be offered on a secondment basis. Please seek permission before applying.
Main duties of the job
1. Deliver speech and language therapy services in collaboration with Specialist Therapists and the Youth Justice Service.
2. Implement therapy programmes, training, coaching, and interventions for individuals and groups.
3. Support communication-friendly interventions across various locations.
4. Advise teachers and parents on speech, language, and communication needs, and assist in developing tracking systems for interventions.
5. Develop resources and accessible information materials.
