Job Title: AWS Developer

Division: Data, Technology and Innovation

Department: Digital Systems

1. Salary: National (Edinburgh and Leeds) ranging from £52,400 to £80,600 and London from £57,700 to £88,600 (salary offered will be based on skills and experience)

2. This role is graded as: Senior Associate - Regulatory

The Data, Technology and Innovation (DTI) division enables the FCA to be a digital-first, data-led smart regulator by delivering a secure, agile, and cost-effective technology and data ecosystem that drives better decisions, transparency, and operational efficiency.

Sitting within DTI, the Digital Systems team delivers the systems that enable the FCA to be a more effective and smarter regulator.

Role responsibilities

4. Maintain and enhance AWS Lambda functions to support intelligent document processing and categorisation of PII across Salesforce platforms, enabling reliable and scalable handling of sensitive data

5. Integrate AWS services including Textract, Comprehend, S3, and SNS to automate workflows and support audit trails, improving operational efficiency and traceability

6. Collaborate with Architecture Governance and Security teams to ensure alignment with FCA data protection standards and DPIA outcomes, improving compliance and risk controls

7. Work with product owners to refine user stories and create test scenarios using Test-Driven Development techniques, ensuring clarity of requirements and improved test coverage

8. Maintain and present AWS architecture to the architecture board as needed, supporting informed decision‑making and strategic oversight

9. Create automation test scripts for regression testing to enhance release confidence and reduce manual testing effort

10. Operate within established DevOps processes to deploy, test, and promote code through environments for weekly releases, providing consistency and reliability in delivery

Skills required

Minimum:

11. Proficiency in developing, deploying and debugging cloud-based applications using AWS Lambda

12. Solid technical knowledge of AWS services, including Amazon Connect, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, SNS, SQS, Textract, Comprehend and Lex

Essential:

13. Deep understanding of AWS AI services with practical experience building scalable, cloud-based AI solutions

14. Proficiency in using AWS service APIs, AWS CLI, and SDKs to write applications

15. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for deploying applications on AWS

16. Proficient in developing applications with Python

17. AWS certifications

18. Graduate-level education in Computing, Computer Science, or a related field

19. Familiarity with Test-Driven Development and DevOps practices
