Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Electrical Designer to join a highly skilled engineering team within a technology-driven manufacturing organisation. This is a senior-level role where you will play a key part in the design, development, and delivery of complex electrical systems for advanced, high-precision products.
The role requires strong technical expertise, alongside the ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams. You will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to enhance processes, resource utilisation, and overall engineering effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and components in compliance with EN(phone number removed), EN13849, UL, and CSA standards, including experience with CE marking
* Produce high-quality electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using industry-standard CAD tools
* Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and firmware teams to ensure seamless system integration
* Plan and manage engineering tasks, working with management and Lead Engineers to allocate resources effectively
* Ensure engineering deliverables are completed on time and to the required quality standards
* Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support to engineers, including onboarding new team members
* Ensure team output is consistent, compliant, and aligned with internal quality and regulatory standards
* Support other departments by responding to technical queries and information requests
* Promote a collaborative, “one team” culture, supporting cross-functional initiatives where required
* Lead and contribute to continuous improvement activities within the engineering function
* Chair engineering meetings and attend cross-functional meetings to report progress and support business priorities
Education / Qualifications
* Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
* Chartered Engineer status desirable but not essential
Skills & Experience
* Strong background in the design of precision electrical and electro-mechanical systems
* Broad understanding of manufacturing techniques, materials, and emerging technologies
* High level of technical competence within an engineering discipline (Electrical preferred)
* Proficient with CAD software (Solid Edge and/or AutoCAD preferred)
* Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
* Confident decision-making and problem-solving capability
* Thorough understanding of engineering drawing best practice
* Experience identifying and implementing process and efficiency improvements
* Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and engineering standards
