Role Description
We are seeking a skilled Assistant Manager with strong leadership and communication abilities to guide the team toward achieving sales and KPI targets while providing outstanding service.
Responsibilities
* Support the Store Manager in effectively running store operations to meet or exceed sales and KPI targets. Set clear sales goals, track performance, and evolve processes to drive store growth.
* Create a positive team culture through recruiting, training and developing staff. Build a motivated, high-performing team to support store success.
* Analyse sales data and financial reports to make informed decisions with the Store Manager and respond to opportunities operationally and commercially.
* Act as the point of contact for colleagues in the manager’s absence.
* Provide excellent customer service, address inquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
* Support day-to-day operations, including opening and closing procedures.
* Assist with cash management tasks, such as processing transactions and reconciling tills.
* Participate in hiring, onboarding and training new employees.
* Provide feedback and coaching to colleagues to improve performance.
* Support the Store Manager in maintaining staff schedules to ensure proper coverage and productivity.
Role Objectives and KPIs
* Contribute to achieving or exceeding the store’s monthly sales target.
* Drive KPIs including units, conversion, ATV, and UPT.
* Achieve upselling and cross-selling targets.
* Maintain a high Net Promoter Score (NPS).
* Ensure stock accuracy during store audits.
* Ensure all new colleagues complete mandatory training.
* Maintain employee engagement scores meeting or exceeding company benchmarks.
* Assist in keeping operational costs within the allocated budget.
Skills and Experience
* Previous supervisory or management experience in a fast-paced retail/customer-facing environment.
* Passionate about retail with a good understanding of the latest trends and competitors.
* Experience coaching and developing individuals.
* Strong communication skills.
* Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and KPIs.
* Experience analysing KPI data to inform commercial decisions.
* Keen eye for detail and commerciality; visual merchandising experience is advantageous.
