About the Service

The Floating Support Service is a locality-based service providing a supportive service to households across Greater Manchester in temporary accommodation who are homeless. The service uses a strengths-based approach to help households stabilise their lives and move forward into permanent rehousing.

Many users may have vulnerabilities or be experiencing hardship with complex needs, including mental health issues, substance misuse, poverty, unemployment and domestic abuse. The role holder will be empathetic, practical and outcome focused, leading a team to deliver a holistic, strength-based service to all households.

The Move On worker will support Managers with in-house transfers and offers through Manchester Move and the Private Rented Sector to ensure the process is fluid and successful. Move on support aims to reduce time spent in temporary accommodation.

For an informal discussion

Please contact the hiring manager, Clare Bennett, at Clare.bennett@manchester.gov.uk to arrange a convenient time to discuss the role.

About the Candidate

Support Workers must understand homelessness and its impact on families and individuals. The role requires personal resilience, a desire to help and a solution-focused outlook.
