We are recruiting an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead the full site safety agenda for a high-volume, complex manufacturing environment. This is a pivotal leadership role with responsibility for embedding a world-class safety culture across a large single-site operation employing a diverse workforce. The successful candidate will be both a strategic thinker and hands-on operator, capable of influencing at every level—from shop-floor colleagues to senior executives—and driving continuous improvement across all HSE disciplines. Roles & Responsibilities Lead the site’s overall Health, Safety & Environmental strategy, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation and corporate standards. Act as the site’s principal HSE advisor, providing expert guidance to the leadership team and operational managers. Drive a proactive, behavioural-based safety culture through coaching, training, and visible leadership. Own the site HSE management system, ensuring that policies, risk assessments, and safe systems of work are fully up to date. Lead accident/incident investigations using root cause analysis; ensure corrective actions are implemented and audited. Manage internal and external audits (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001), ensuring the site maintains or exceeds certification requirements. Oversee COSHH, machinery safety, permit-to-work systems, emergency response planning, and contractor safety management. Ensure effective environmental controls covering waste, emissions, Continuous Improvement Drive HSE-focused improvement projects aligned with operational goals—Lean, TPM, 5S, or equivalent methodologies. Qualifications & Experience NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards) or equivalent Level 6 HSE qualification. Demonstrable experience in a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, chemical, or similar fast-paced environment. Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and environmental compliance requirements. Experience leading within a large single-site operation is highly desirable. Proven background influencing culture change and improving safety performance.
