Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) Lead and stakeholders across the organisation at all levels. As a knowledge-based organisation, effective knowledge and information management (KIM) are essential to delivering efficient and high-quality services at the Planning Inspectorate.
You will be introducing information management improvements that will have a meaningful impact on our operations. You will work closely with colleagues in the Digital and Data Unit to implement changes across Microsoft SharePoint to improve information access, security and governance. Also, you will work closely with colleagues in the Customer Quality team to improve the processes and guidance for managing information rights requests covering Environmental Information, Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests.
Job description
The role provides a fantastic opportunity for someone to build on their existing knowledge and experience of information management within a project environment. It would suit someone who is looking to extend their information management experience and develop their project delivery and change management skills.
You will be a highly organised individual who is able to work with others to provide solutions to problems.
You will be confident at proactively engaging with teams and developing positive working relationships with a range of individuals.
You will work closely with the Records Manager and technical colleagues to understand the business and governance requirements for implementing improvements to existing SharePoint sites.
You will engage with teams from across the organisation to understand what information they use, how they work with their information, who needs access and how long it needs to be kept which will inform proposed SharePoint site structures and governance rules.
You will work with the Knowledge and Information Management Lead to identify risks and mitigating actions.
You will work with colleagues in other teams on reporting and awareness raising campaigns, develop guidance, processes and training around managing compliance with information rights legislation.
You will have the opportunity and time to complete new learning that will assist you in your role and will be given time and support to balance these different tasks so you are able to bring and commit your best effort to the role.
Person specification
Essential Criteria
* Knowledge and experience of working with teams to support new ways of managing information.
* Experience of developing processes, training or guidance to support the introduction of information governance requirements in systems.
* Experience of balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity.
* Experience of working collaboratively as part of a multi-discipline team that includes technical experts and business end users.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Knowledge and experience of Environmental Information Regulations and Freedom of Information Act
* Experience of information management in Microsoft SharePoint and Teams
* Knowledge and experience of Copilot or similar generative AI tools
* Awareness and experience of working with security standards.
