Overview
We are looking to recruit an experienced or newly qualified Psychotherapist/Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work therapeutically in our psychodynamic pathway. This post delivers specialist psychological care to adults with complex mental health needs. The post is located in Lewisham Integrated Therapies team, Lewisham and works closely with community mental health teams.
Responsibilities
* Work under the supervision of a Senior Psychotherapist to deliver psychodynamic therapies to people presenting with complex emotional needs.
* Supervise trainees, honorary and other junior staff.
* Offer consultations and other input to community mental health teams.

Qualifications
Essential
* To have undertaken a recognised qualification in one of the core mental health professions, e.g. psychiatric nursing, clinical/counselling psychology, medicine, social work and occupational therapy OR to have equivalent relevant experience and demonstrable competence to work in the mental health field in the NHS.
Desirable
* Further training in Psychodynamic models of therapy.
Experience
Essential
* Experience of assessment and treatment of clients with a range of complex emotional needs using psychodynamic models of therapy
* Experience that supports working with, and addressing issues of, diversity within local communities (through work, research, volunteering and/or lived experience)
* Significant post-qualification/graduation experience including individual and group therapy with people with complex mental health needs
* Experience of working with risk and safety (physical and relational)
* Experience of multi-disciplinary working and collaborating with community mental health teams
Knowledge
Essential
* Knowledge of the theory of psychological therapy and its application for those presenting with complex emotional needs; awareness of assessments
* Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to the client group, mental health issues, child and adult protection, and equalities
* Knowledge of factors affecting acceptability and accessibility of mental health care
* Ability to deliver psychological/psychotherapeutic therapy across cultural and other differences
* Ability to select and administer specialist psychological assessments and interpret complex data from multiple sources
Skills
Essential
* Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information effectively with clients, carers and colleagues, overcoming barriers such as sensory and emotional difficulties, cultural differences and potential hostility to information
* Consultation skills to work with the multi-professional team and manage multiple needs within therapeutic work/consultation
* Plan allocation of tasks to assistants/trainees as appropriate; provide teaching and training to other professional groups
* Ability to select and administer specialist assessments and interpret data from multiple sources
