Primary Care Nursing Associate – Health & Justice

In our quest to deliver patient‑focused quality care we are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic Primary Care Nursing Associate to join our forward‑thinking, friendly and expanding Health & Justice team at HMP/YOI Bronzefield.
By joining our Prisons Health Care Team you will look after the healthcare needs of patients residing in secure environments and have the opportunity to promote health and well‑being. Our healthcare services work to a 7‑day week working model to ensure patients’ healthcare is managed and maintained to the highest standards at all times.
Our motto is “Caring NOT Judging” and we work in partnership with the criminal justice system and other agencies to provide responsive, dependable and high‑quality primary care and mental health services to those who may have offended and those at risk of offending in the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond to medical emergencies and general alarms.
* Administer medication within areas of competence and under the direction of a qualified nurse, acting as a second signatory as required.
* Provide wound care, vital observations and diagnostics including blood pressure, pulse, SATs and blood glucose monitoring.
* Record ECG, perform venepuncture and assist with minor surgery.
* Conduct near‑patient testing such as INR monitoring, health promotion advice and secondary health screening.
* Assist with sexual health prevention, screening and treatment clinics.
* Support patients with specific needs, including the disabled and the elderly.
* Assist with activities of daily living and develop care plans for prisoners with physical and mental health needs.
Additional Duties
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and senior nursing staff.
* Maintain close liaison with the senior team member responsible for workload management.
* Keep accurate and contemporaneous records, both written and electronic, in accordance with NMC Guidance and CNWL policy.
* Assist with clerical and administrative duties as required.
* Act in partnership with other professionals and agencies involved in patient care.
* Apply infection prevention and control protocols and support infection control.
* Perform duties consistent with the responsibility and scale of the post, including stock control and equipment checking.
* Provide quality evidence‑based care for patients with specified long‑term conditions.
