Overview
Location: Glasgow, United Kingdom. Manufacturing Technicians - Naval - Wiring, Mechanical, Test. Role: FTC (12 months) / Permanent. Hours: 4 day week (Monday-Thursday) / 37 hours per week. The role is with the Optronics and Missile Electronics (OME) department in Glasgow; you will work with the team, Work Cell Manager and Manufacturing Engineers to deliver outputs from the relevant work cell in line with business requirements. The position involves mechanical, wiring and test manufacturing tasks, following engineering drawings to the required quality. The site is based at the Glasgow manufacturing site with a 4 day week (Monday to Thursday, 9.25 hours per day). Start time flexible between 6:00am and 7:30am; 30 minutes unpaid lunch. On-site parking and canteen available.
Key duties
* Perform complex manufacturing operations in accordance with the associated documentation in a timely and professional manner.
* Assemble product to a high quality standard, including mechanical and optical components, with consideration for any ESD-sensitive components.
* Align opto-mechanical systems and complete the affiliated functional testing as per the production documentation, including the acceptance test specification.
* Perform self-assessment of products.
* Adhere to defined company processes when carrying out tasks. Escalate technical blockers and issues to the relevant Manufacturing Engineer.
* Ensure any quality non-conformances are logged and escalated to the Inspector or Quality representative.
* Contribute to diagnostics and root-cause analysis where able.
* Input and support continuous improvement actions within the industry.
* Use company tools (ERP/Oracle, Palma, etc.) during product assembly and test tasks.
* Manage and record build configuration of product.
* Escalate health and safety issues to the Work Cell Manager and log incidents for H&S reporting.
Experience and qualifications
* Experience building mechanical assemblies.
* Ability to interpret drawings and diagrams.
* Clear communication with relevant stakeholders.
* Ability to follow processes and instructions, and to problem solve.
* Ability to work on own initiative when required.
* Eligible to obtain full SC clearance.
