Senior Estimator (Civil Engineering)

Location: Tamworth or Chesterfield office; travel may be required to Huntingdon, Peterborough, or similar. Travel to head office in Ipswich on occasion.
Full UK driving licence essential.
Reports directly to the Pre-Contracts Director at Head office in Ipswich.
Responsibilities
* Manage and coordinate information for bids and tenders within designated area.
* Research materials, equipment and labour costs.
* Gain and understand client needs.
* Collect quotes from suppliers and sub-contractors.
* Plan job timescales.
* Assess and advise on commercial risk.
* Prepare and submit quotations for work.
* Help with bids for new contracts and support buying activities.
* Monitor the stages of a project to keep costs in line with forecasts.
* Convey financial elements of a tender to site staff at tender handover.
* Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and company procedures.
* Involvement in reviewing and providing input to quality submissions.
Qualifications
Self‑motivated individual with excellent communication and presentation skills, strong commercial awareness, problem‑solving, numerical and analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
Strong background in estimating for civil engineering projects including highways, earthworks, and infrastructure.
Sound knowledge of spreadsheets and estimating packages.
